Lunch is an event…

September 26, 2006

Everyday I wake up, get dressed, drive to work, get settled in and finally, consort with my coworkers regarding the all important question – what’s for lunch?? Lunch at my work is an event! Although there are only about seven people who work at my company (well, not MY company, but the one I work for), we don’t settle for the usual salad or sandwich. Oh, no no, at my work, lunch is a very special time, one where we gather around the tiny kitchen table and swap food like it was ‘goin out of style’!

As was already established, I like food! And so do my coworkers, which leads to a very interesting lunch time. Most of the time, we have Pakistani food, as the vast majority of my coworkers are from Pakistan (not me, I’m from Trinidad, remember!). Anyways, at my work, no lunch is safe….If you bring lunch, you share lunch!! It’s very unlike a traditional lunch time at work, it’s more like a buffet smorgasbord of food. We take it out of the fridge, heat it up, put it on the table and everyone digs in. If you bring a little or a lot, it really doesn’t matter much, it all gets shared around and eaten up. I think I got the better end of the deal here, cause I rarely bring anything, and I always get food from the others, I just hope they don’t catch on!!!

Anyways, as most of you know (okay, who am I kidding, there’s only like four people who read my blogs), its Ramadan and I will be fasting, so I will be missing lunch for the next month and when I say missing, I mean MISSING!. Ramadan Mubarak everyone.
